ABOUT

Niche means "to make a nest' in French, an analogy for intertwining skills of graphic design, art and promotional creations.

My paper crane icon fits perfectly, as he has flown beside me every step of my business ownership journey.

Paper Crane's represent peace, creativity and freedom.

He is a gliding symbol of the evolution of an idea on paper, a ball of paper transforming into a beautiful result from a simple light bulb moment into a souring form of freedom to create, evolve & design.

Below is a quick run down of my career as an Artist and Graphic Designer.

I have always created, since before I can remember.  Creative expression has long been in my blood.

Starting out in a Print House at the age of 18yrs was where great habits were formed. I learnt quickly and within a very short time in the business,I was running the graphic department.  This hands on experience, so young, taught me the art of managing tight deadlines and at times very challenging projects.

I was offered an opportunity within a Film Bureau company (which does show my age) but at the time was a great addition to growing knowledge in the graphic design industry.

A passion for travel took me over seas for years where experience was gained in a variety of graphic design companies in the UK. Joining one of London's top 10 advertising agencies, where I was offered the opportunity to work direct as a permanent freelancer, enabling me to continue exploring the world while retaining a position on each return. Entrusted to run complete promotional high-end projects for large reputable brands from creative design concepts to packaging, marketing and full complex branding specs with London's high-end cliental. Covering all bases regarding graphic design knowledge through these opportunities. Exciting work!

Returning home to New Zealand, Aotearoa offered continued work before starting a more home-based job while raising our young sons (who are now: 20, 17 & 12yrs).

Moving to Tauranga, I grew my involvement in graphic design along with the promotional industry, which complements each other. Promotional apparel and uniforms have always been apart of my early years growing up, as this was my family business.

Creating my business, 'iKandi Graphix & Promo' 2005-2022 now known as 'niche creative' Feb 2022. Where my love of the Arts and Graphic design will intertwine (much like a nest) with more of my own niche evolving.

I am naturally artistic & creative which is vital with visualising a client brief, commission discussions, understanding the target market and client business vision. Attention to detail and visual impact which is important while listening and understanding client requirements.

I am constantly inspired, evolving with new ideas and am always learning, adapting and growing. I'm always looking forward to the next challenge and creative design project.
